What is the IELTS exam and how is it conducted?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a widely recognized exam that measures your English proficiency in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. It is accepted by universities, employers, and immigration authorities worldwide.
- Listening: 30 minutes, 4 recordings, 40 questions.
- Reading: 60 minutes, 3 passages, 40 questions (Academic or General Training).
- Writing: 60 minutes, 2 tasks (describe a visual, write an essay).
- Speaking: 11-14 minutes, face-to-face interview with an examiner.
Total test time is 2 hours 45 minutes. Listening, Reading, and Writing are taken together; Speaking may be scheduled separately within a week. Each section is scored on a 0-9 band scale, with an overall average.
