What does RO mean in an IELTS result and how does it affect my band score?
RO stands for Recognising Organisation, meaning any university, college or immigration body that accepts your IELTS scores. It is purely an administrative label for where your results are sent and has absolutely zero effect on your band score, which certified examiners assess independently against fixed criteria.
Seeing RO on your IELTS paperwork can look confusing, but it simply refers to the Recognising Organisations, the universities, colleges or immigration departments you nominate to receive your results. It is administrative only, so it never touches how your Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking are scored.
