What are the eligibility criteria for the student visa and work visa in New Zealand for a Bachelor's/Master's?
To study and work in New Zealand, you must meet eligibility criteria for both the student visa and the post-study work visa (PSW).
Student visa requirements:
- Unconditional offer from a New Zealand education provider for a full-time course.
- English proficiency, usually IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 (requirements may vary by institution).
- Proof of funds for tuition and at least NZD 20,000/year for living expenses.
- Health and character requirements, including possible medical exams and police clearance.
- Genuine intent to study and a valid passport (at least three months beyond your stay).
Post-study work visa (PSW) requirements:
- Completed qualification at Level 7 or above (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral) through full-time study in New Zealand.
- Apply within three months of student visa expiry.
- Proof of NZD 5,000 for living expenses.
- Health and character requirements.
