Choose a Japanese university by checking your course first, then the language of study, fees, admission requirements, location and scholarship options. Rankings can help you shortlist, but they should not be the only factor, since a lower-ranked university may suit your subject better.

Four Japanese universities rank inside the QS World University Rankings 2027 top 100. The University of Tokyo is ranked 39, Kyoto University 64, the University of Osaka 95 and the Institute of Science Tokyo joint 97. Tohoku University sits just outside the top 100 at 102.

Europe is the stronger pick for most Indian management students: it offers far more English-taught programs and easier post-study routes, like Germany's 18-month job-search visa, while Japan and South Korea suit only those set on Japanese or Korean-market careers and willing to learn the language.

Japan offers English-taught Masters programs at universities like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, no Japanese required. The MEXT Scholarship covers 100 percent tuition, a monthly stipend, and airfare. You typically need a 3.0+ GPA and must secure a supervisor 12 to 18 months before applying to research-based programs.
