Is the IELTS exam computer-based or paper-based, and what is the booking status?
Both computer-based and paper-based IELTS formats are currently offered, but from mid-2026, only the computer-based IELTS will be available, with a "Writing on Paper" option in select locations.
- Computer-based IELTS: Listening, Reading, and Writing sections on computer; results in 1 - 5 days.
- Paper-based IELTS: All sections on paper; results in about 13 days.
- Speaking section: Always face-to-face with an examiner.
Booking availability depends on your location and test date. In India, computer-based IELTS slots are offered frequently at major centers, but dates can fill up quickly. Booking early is recommended. If you need help with booking, please contact your LeapScholar counsellor.
