Is it better to apply to Australia or New Zealand given the current visa success rates and demand?
27 Aug 2026 · Answered by Premlata Shandilya · 1 min read
New Zealand is currently a better option than Australia for student visa approval and demand.
- Visa approval rate: New Zealand is around 88 - 92%, while Australia's refusal rate for Indian students has risen to about 40% as of early 2026.
- Demand trends: New Zealand has seen a 20% increase in student visa applications in 2026, while Australia is experiencing a decline in international student applications, especially in vocational sectors.
These trends are subject to change, so consider your program preferences and long-term goals as well.
