If I study in Malaysia, how many years of work permit will I get and how long is the master's program?
Master’s programs in Malaysia usually take 1 - 2 years for full-time students, depending on the course and university.
After graduation, you can apply for the Graduate Work Pass (GWP), which lets international graduates stay and work in Malaysia for up to 12 months without employer sponsorship. To qualify, you need a degree from an accredited Malaysian institution, a valid student pass at graduation, and a minimum CGPA of 2.50/4.00. Applications must be made within six months of graduating.
Once you secure a job, you may transition to an Employment Pass (EP), typically valid for 1 - 5 years and renewable based on your employment.
Visa rules and durations are subject to change.
