If I enroll in the Early Childhood Education program in New Zealand but later want to switch to primary or secondary education, do I need to take another master's degree for that?

It depends. If you complete a Master's in Early Childhood Education in New Zealand and later want to teach at the primary or secondary level, you will typically need to complete an additional qualification specific to that teaching level.

- Primary teaching: Usually requires a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) or Bachelor of Teaching (Primary).
- Secondary teaching: Generally needs a subject-specific degree plus a one-year Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) or a Master of Teaching (Secondary).

The Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand requires teachers to hold the appropriate qualification for each level. Transitioning between teaching levels usually involves enrolling in the relevant program for that stage.
