Key Tips for Your Letter
| Tip | What to do |
|---|---|
| Follow instructions | Answer every required question and stay within the word or page limit |
| Support claims with examples | Mention a project, internship or task that shows your skills |
| Build a clear connection | Show how your education and experience lead to this programme and your goals |
| Add beyond your CV | Explain what you learned and how it shaped your interests |
| Give specific reasons | Mention relevant modules, research areas or practical projects |
| Keep goals realistic | State the role or field you want to enter after graduation |
Style and Final Checks
- Use your natural voice and avoid complex words, famous quotes and unnatural phrases.
- Keep each paragraph focused on one main idea.
- Read the letter aloud to catch long sentences and repeated ideas.
- Check that another applicant could not reuse your letter without major changes.
My Advice
Draft first, polish later. Write a rough version around three concrete stories from your studies or work, then shape each paragraph to answer why this programme and why now. Ask someone you trust to read it and tell you what they remember afterwards.
