Does the GMAT Superscore help me if I retake the exam, and how does it work?

The GMAT Superscore is a total score on the 205 to 805 scale built from your best section scores across valid attempts. GMAC launched it in August 2026 and builds it automatically if you retake the test. It is free, and expired or cancelled scores are excluded.

The GMAT Superscore combines your best section scores from valid attempts into one total on the 205 to 805 scale. If you take the GMAT more than once, GMAC builds it automatically at no cost.

How the Superscore Works

  • GMAC launched the Superscore in August 2026.
  • It appears on your official GMAT score report and is free.
  • Expired and cancelled scores are not included.
  • Percentile guide: 705 and above is 98.0% or higher (elite MBA range), 675 to 695 is 95.8% or higher, and 645 to 665 is 90.5% or higher.
  • A score of 645 or above is generally considered good for competitive global MBA programmes.

My Advice

Check each school's policy before you plan retakes, because schools decide how they use the Superscore. Focus on lifting your weakest section, as your best sections carry forward.
