Do life science consultants in India need to know Power BI, SQL, or other data tools to get hired?
No. Consultants in India work almost entirely in Excel and PowerPoint. SQL, Power BI, and Tableau are not part of the standard consulting workflow and will not be tested in interviews.
• These tools are a nice-to-have and worth mentioning on a CV, but they are not what secures a consulting role.
• What is tested: structuring a problem, identifying key variables, and communicating a clear recommendation under time pressure, this is what case studies screen for.
• Case study practice using free online resources and YouTube channels is the highest-value preparation activity. Power BI courses are a misdirection.
