Can I move abroad for a bachelor's degree now despite my previous travel and sponsorship issues in New Zealand?

It depends. You may still be eligible to study abroad for a bachelor’s degree, but previous travel and sponsorship issues - as well as your 48-year gap in work or study - can significantly affect your New Zealand student visa application.

Immigration authorities will closely review your history. You must clearly explain past issues and provide documentation showing they are resolved. The long gap will also need a strong, well-supported explanation, as it is highly unusual and may raise concerns about your intent and readiness for study.
