When will be the suitable intake for me to apply abroad considering I will complete my current bachelor's by 2027?
If you complete your Bachelor's in 2027, target the September 2027 intake and start applying from November 2026 onwards. This gives you enough time for applications, offer letters, and visa processing. January 2028 is a backup if September 2027 does not work out. Apply before your results are out using your current marks.
If you are completing your Bachelor's degree in 2027, your application timeline depends on when in 2027 you finish (early year vs mid-year) and which country you are targeting. Here is how to plan it correctly.
Recommended Intake and Application Timeline
Graduation Month | Recommended Intake | When to Start Applying | Backup Intake |
|---|---|---|---|
April/May 2027 | September 2027 | Start applying: November 2026 | January 2028 |
June/July 2027 | September 2027 (if results come in time) | Start applying: December 2026 | January 2028 |
October/November 2027 | January 2028 | Start applying: July 2027 | September 2028 |
What to Do Now (Before You Graduate)
Action | Timeline |
|---|---|
Take IELTS/PTE exam | As early as possible - at least 12 months before intake |
Research universities and shortlist | 12-15 months before target intake |
Prepare SOP and collect reference letters | 3-4 months before application deadline |
Apply to universities | November 2026 onwards for September 2027 intake |
Submit finals marks/provisional certificate | As soon as results are announced |
Apply for visa after receiving unconditional offer | At least 3 months before course start |
My Advice
The most important thing you can do right now is take your English language test (IELTS or PTE). This is the single most common reason students miss their target intake - they delay the test and then run out of time. Everything else (university research, SOP writing, references) can be done while you are still studying. Apply to universities before your final results are out - you will receive conditional offers that convert to unconditional once your results are confirmed. Do not wait to graduate before starting your applications. If September 2027 feels rushed based on your exam schedule, January 2028 is a completely legitimate option at most UK, Irish, and Canadian universities and does not set you back significantly.
