Are you creating my LinkedIn profile or CV as part of the application process?
No, a counsellor does not automatically edit your live LinkedIn account or CV file during your application. They can draft and optimise the actual text with you, tailoring bullet points and keywords, which you then copy into your own CV or profile.
No, your application support will not silently update your live LinkedIn profile or CV document for you. You stay in control of both accounts at all times. What your counsellor can do instead is sit with you and write, tailor, and polish the actual text, which you then paste into your own CV or profile.
What Counsellor Support Typically Covers
| Document | What Gets Worked On |
|---|---|
| CV | Rewriting bullet points with action verb and impact formulas, adding keywords from your target job description, cleaning up formatting for scanning tools |
| Writing a keyword rich headline, drafting a first person About summary, structuring an expanded record of your projects and skills |
How to Get the Most Out of This Support
- Share your target job role or industry before the session, so the draft is relevant from the start
- Bring any existing CV draft or a job description you want to match, since keyword tailoring works best against a real posting
- Decide whether you want to focus on your CV or LinkedIn profile first, rather than trying to redo both at once
My Advice
Come to your next counselling session with your current CV and one specific job or program description in hand, and ask your counsellor to rewrite two or three bullet points live with you. Once you see the pattern, you can apply the same action verb and impact structure to the rest of your document yourself.
