Campus Life

The university's four campuses in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Great Yarmouth, and Lowestoft have high-end architecture. Some important buildings at the University of Suffolk are the "East Contemporary Art Collection", which contains 160 works from 115 artists, a six-story James Hehir Building including Cult Cafí©, accommodation residents, 24/7 libraries, and research areas, and many more. Additional facilities include fitness centres, modern sports centres with 3G football pitches, counselling and wellness centres, and more than 100 student clubs and organizations with various athletic opportunities.

The on-campus accommodation with 590-bed spaces is available in Athena Hall, located at the Ipswich campus. Being within walking distance from the town center and Ipswich Train Station, Athena Hall offers self-catering cluster flats and studio room options. Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Studio ensuites are available for 42 weeks, 48 weeks, and 50 weeks tenure with cost ranging from 130 GBP to 180 GBP per week that includes internet, kitchen (microwave, fridge with freezer, sink), study rooms, laundry, and bike storage facilities.

On-Campus Accommodation:

For first-year students or those studying at the University of Suffolk for the first time, Athena Hall, the on-campus halls of residence, is advised. It was designed and built expressly for students, and the University of Suffolk was involved in its creation and planning to ensure that it met university requirements.

Athena Hall does not require accreditation because it is an on-campus residence hall, although it does meet the requirements. With a seaside setting and proximity to the University, Ipswich Town, and the railway station, Athena Hall is ideally situated to make the most of student life.

Utility bills and broadband charges are included in the rental price of Athena Hall rooms. Rent is usually provided weekly to make comparing prices between houses easier, as well as a total contract price so you can see how much it will cost in total for the life of the tenancy.

Off-Campus Accommodation:

University appreciates that on-campus housing is not suitable for all students at the University of Suffolk. As a result, they launched the Accreditation Scheme to provide students with more options when deciding where to reside. University students were the driving force behind the Accredited Accommodation Scheme. The Accreditation Scheme includes privately owned and managed buildings and they only market those inspected by Ipswich Borough Council to ensure they satisfy university quality and safety criteria.

If you're on a tight budget or searching for a house with specific features, such as being in a particular area or having parking, accredited off-campus housing can be an excellent alternative to on-campus living. Members of the Accreditation Scheme will be able to advertise to students through the University of Suffolk only if their electrical wiring and gas inspection certificates are up to date, providing an incentive for the home to be kept safe and well maintained.

Utility expenditures and broadband charges are included in the rental price of accredited off-campus housing (unless otherwise stated). Rent is usually provided weekly to make comparing prices between houses easier, as well as a total contract price so you can see how much it will cost in total for the life of the tenancy. Off-campus housing is within walking distance of the college, as are the town centre and other amenities.
