This MSc by Research in Materials Science offers students the chance to undertake and manage a research project, gaining significant laboratory experience and professional connections. The course covers research areas within the scope of the academic staff's expertise, including chemistry, engineering, physics, health, and medicine. Over 12 months, students develop knowledge and technical skills necessary to produce original work that contributes to the scientific community. The program includes nine months of full-time lab work in a research team, followed by a three-month dissertation writing period. Students will be mentored by academics and participate in a graduate training programme. The process culminates in a dissertation and viva voce, demonstrating their research understanding and critical evaluation skills.
