Degree requirements

To earn the MA degree, students must complete at least 30 semester credit hours, with a minimum of 15 at the 500 level. Students must choose one of three plans: thesis, research report, or coursework only (from Fall 2024 onward). The thesis plan involves creating a research thesis with a faculty committee, while the research report plan requires a research paper and an oral exam. The coursework-only plan ends with a final professional practice project. A 3.00 GPA is required for graduation, and students must select or be assigned a faculty advisor early in the program.
