BEng in Design Engineering with a Year in Industry, University of Bristol

This course aims to develop innovative, high-calibre design engineers who can lead complex projects and create new products, processes, and services that meet modern societal needs. Starting with a broad, common first year, students then explore design methodology and professional practice in more depth. The initial years focus on essential skills like problem definition, conceptual design, detail design, analysis, and manufacturing/construction processes. The third year is spent in industry, providing students valuable hands-on experience and enhancing their professional development. In the final year, students undertake advanced technical units across the Faculty of Engineering and complete a major research project, gaining further technical expertise and a broader multidisciplinary learning experience.
