  • Founded in 1909, The University of Queensland in Australia is one of six sandstone universities and a public research institute. It is known primarily for three programs; Doctor of Philosophy, Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Arts, a student enrollment of over 55,305 (35,051 undergraduates and 19,939 postgraduates.). 
  • The university comprises six faculties (Science, Medicine, Business, Economics and Law etc.) and eight institutes (Global Change Institute, Queensland Brain Institute etc.) with a staff of 7,208 members. Some of the courses taught include Drama, Earth Science, Australian Studies, Agribusiness and Veterinary Science. 
  • There are three campuses, namely St. Lucia, Gatton and Herston, and several research sites. Housing over 2.17 million books, 158,000 journals and approximately 100,000 computers, The University of Queensland library system consists of over ten branches, including the Central Library, Fryer Library, Law Library and more. Students can opt for Professional Doctorate programs and Higher Degree by Research programs. 
  • The UQ College initiative prepares students for life at the university, and there are several Summer semester courses to choose from. The Study, Abroad and Exchanges program allows students from other universities to study at UQ for a semester or two. Different financial aid options are available such as Google PhD Fellowships, Sleath String Performance Prize, Science International Scholarship, Barbara Hebden Music Bursary etc. 
  • Eleven residential colleges (with dining services) like Kings College, Grace College and Emmanuel College provide accommodation on campus; there are standard, deluxe, suite, shared and other rooms. Students can choose to join one of the 220 clubs and societies like VESA UQ, One for the World and UQ Menzies or play sports like netball, tennis, badminton and boxing. 
  • Sports facilities on campus include the Aquatic Centre, Old Gym, Fitness Centre, courts and fields. UQ bachelors degree graduates have been known to earn an average starting salary of AUD 52,000- AUD 58,000.
