Updated on Jul 02, 2024, 11:57

The IELTS Listening section is designed to evaluate your ability to understand spoken English in various real-life contexts. It comprises four parts, each presenting different types of recordings, such as conversations, monologues, and discussions. You will have 30 minutes to listen to the recordings and answer the questions, followed by an additional 10 minutes to transfer your answers to the answer sheet.

This section assesses your listening comprehension through a variety of question formats, including multiple-choice, matching, plan/map/diagram labelling, form/note/table/flow-chart/summary completion, and sentence completion.

In Midbury Drama Club audio, you will listen to a recording featuring members of the club discussing their upcoming productions and activities. The audio captures a conversation among club members, covering topics such as audition details, rehearsal schedules, and future performance dates.

FAQs

Q. Are there any tips for the IELTS listening test?

Ans. Practice is key to excelling in the IELTS listening test. Familiarise yourself with different English accents, focus on understanding the context rather than every single word, and use the 30 seconds given before each section to preview questions. Improve your note-taking skills and stay calm during the test to ensure accurate answers.

Q. What strategies can I use during the IELTS listening test?

Ans. Effective strategies include listening for keywords, predicting answers based on context, and being aware of distractors. Maintain focus throughout each section, and if you miss an answer, move on rather than dwell on it. Utilise the time between sections to review questions and prepare mentally. Finally, practice listening to a variety of accents to build confidence.

Q. How to attempt table completion type questions in IELTS listening?

Ans. For table completion questions, focus on understanding the structure of the table and headings provided. Listen carefully for specific details such as numbers, names, dates, or other key information that completes the table. Use abbreviations and symbols where appropriate to save time. Ensure accuracy by cross-checking your answers with the information heard during the recording. Practice with sample tests to enhance your proficiency in this question type.
