SepThe University of Windsor's Bachelor in Nursing curriculum permits students to complete the program in 4 years. The full-time course provides students with extensive training. The student-to-teacher ratio is 8:1, which promotes interaction between professors and students.
This curriculum blends academic achievement with practical learning in equal measure. Throughout the program's first three years, clinical practicum courses are offered in various healthcare settings with a 1:8 instructor-student ratio beginning in year one. Students develop independence in their final year of study as they collaborate with a preceptor (1:1) and log 384 hours in hospital and community settings. More than 250 hospitals and community organizations in southwest Ontario are affiliated with the nursing faculty.
Seven experiential learning laboratories are taught during the program to enhance student learning in the classroom and clinical settings. Through various interactive and simulated exercises, these laboratories are specifically created to assist the student in applying theory to clinical practice. Nursing students have access to academic and career advising through the Student Success Coordinator and free counseling services through the Clinical Therapist incorporated in the program to assist student development dynamically.
