What are the requirements for participation?


For UG applicants, Queen's has country-specific entrance requirements. An All India Senior School Certificate (CBSE) or an Indian School Certificate is required for Indian applicants (CISCE). The grades needed for admission will differ depending on the programme. However, according to the Indian grading system, a minimum academic average of 75% is necessary. Individual students with outstanding Class XII results from state boards will be evaluated. For applicants already enrolled in secondary school, interim Class XII grades or pre-board exam scores are taken into account. Secondary school graduates are evaluated based on their final board test scores from class XII.

 

In addition, one of the following English proficiency exam results is required:

  • TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 88, with 24 points in Writing, 22 points in Speaking and Reading, and 20 points in Listening.
  • IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no band lower than 6.0.
  • Minimum score of 110 in Duolingo (DET).
  • PTE: 60 in total
  • Proficiency: C1: Advanced/C2: Proficiency: C1: Advanced/C2: Proficiency: C1: Overall, 175 points, with no component below 170.

Requirements for a Master's Degree

A UG degree from an eligible institution, as defined by the Queen's University Policy on Admission for Advanced Study with a second class standing, is the minimum requirement for any master's programme. Applicants with a general bachelor's degree and one academic year of full-time study as a qualifying student with at least a B grade average may be deemed equivalent.

 

Requirements for Doctoral Programs

Any one of the following minimum credentials is required for admission to a PhD programme:

  • Master's level qualification
  • Promotion to a PhD programme after completing a master's degree
  • Direct admission: Direct admission to a PhD programme may be considered for students with a demonstrably superior ranking in their honours bachelor's degree or equivalent.
