1. Residence Hall areas
a. East Campus
The Student Health Center, Student Recreation Center, and downtown Carbondale are close to East Campus.
- Mae Smith, Neely and Schneider Residence Halls
Approximately 600 students are housed in these 17-story high-rise housing halls. The single and double suite-style rooms in these high-rise structures have two bedrooms divided by a private bathroom. East Campus provides student lounges, kitchenettes, laundry facilities, and desk service around the clock.
The Department of Public Safety, the Mae Smith, Neely, and Schneider Hall's mail rooms, a dining hall, and the Residence Life Office are all located in Trueblood Commons.
b. West Campus
Campus Lake and Thompson Woods are close to West Campus, often known as Thompson Point.
- Thompson Point Residence Halls
The west campus region has eleven resident halls, and the Commons Building provides suite-style accommodations, with two bedrooms separated by a private bathroom. The eleven three-story resident halls (Abbott, Bailey, Baldwin, Bowyer, Brown, Felts, Kellogg, Pierce, Smith, Steagall, and Warren) include single and double rooms (two bedrooms divided by a private bathroom), lounges on each floor, and laundry on the lower floors. For students who have mobility issues, there are accessible rooms available.
The neighbourhood office, a dining hall, a mail room, a student lounge, and an additional accessible laundry room are all located in Lentz Commons.

2. Apartments
Wall & Grand Apartments, Elizabeth Apartments and Evergreen Terrace are the university's three apartment communities on campus. The university has apartments that are suitable for students who are married, in domestic partnerships, have children, are single graduate students, or are over the age of 21.

3. Speciality Housing
The goal of University Housing is to serve the students.
The university ensures that student requirements are met adequately by collaborating closely with Disability Support Services.
Provides co-ed apartments in Evergreen Terrace Apartments and Wall & Grand Apartments.
Provides gender-inclusive accommodation in the Campus Pride Living Learning Community (LLC), allowing students to live with roommates of any gender. For students who could identify as transgender or who are unsure of their gender identity and do not want to conform to gender stereotypes, this LLC offers a housing option.
Wall & Grand Apartments, junior/senior housing in University Hall, Evergreen Terrace, and conventional residence halls are just a few of the on-campus housing options available to veterans at SIU Carbondale. In most areas, we provide personalised contracts, all-inclusive living, and convenient locations.
