Students need to be 19 years old or have completed grade 12 in order to enrol in the majority of classes. The following prerequisites might not be necessary for some general education classes, particularly those that are geared toward children and young adults.
Admissions requirements for postsecondary programs
Applicants who will be at least 19 years old by the first day of school and who do not meet the academic entrance prerequisites may be considered for admission as mature applicants to an approved postsecondary programme if they meet the other requirements for admission. Applicants of any age will have their applications evaluated on an individual basis. An official high school diploma (OSSD) along with 30 credits earned at the general or college level, or its equivalent, is required for entry to postsecondary programmes. Certain programmes require applicants to complete certain prerequisite classes.
Applicants seeking enrollment in college classes on a part-time basis may be granted admission to those classes if there is room available in the class and the applicant has satisfied the entrance requirements. Applicants to a postsecondary diploma or certificate programmes that require only the prerequisite courses of English and/or mathematics may be admitted on a probationary basis. However, they will be required to earn a grade point average of 60 per cent or higher after completing six credit courses in order to graduate from the programme.
NOTE: Even if an applicant is accepted for part-time study, this does not guarantee that they will be admitted to a programme on a full-time basis in consecutive semesters.
Admission requirements for degree programs
All of the following requirements need to be met in order for applicants to be considered mature:
- Must be at least 21 years old by the first day of classes in order to register.
- Must have no recent poor academic performance
- Must be able to demonstrate by academic accomplishments that they have the capacity to be successful in degree studies.

Admission requirements for graduate certificate programs
The completion of an undergraduate degree or an advanced degree from another institution is necessary for admission to graduate certificate programmes. Some scholarship opportunities stipulate the precise field of study that must be completed to qualify.
Admission process, part-time to full-time studies
Students attending Georgian College on a part-time basis who are interested in enrolling to the first year of full-time studies are required to submit their application through ontariocolleges.ca and adhere to the standard admissions procedure. The status of a student attending school part-time does not grant preferential admission to a programme requiring full-time attendance. It is strongly encouraged that students enrol in credit classes on a part-time basis within full-time programmes, provided that there is space available and that the admission standards are satisfied.
