The most crucial piece of information is your transcript. It details the courses you've attended as well as your grades, allowing us to assess:

Preparation for school. We want to make sure you're ready for the demands of college-level work by making sure you're prepared. We suggest*:
- four years of English - three to four years of math (through second year algebra or pre-calculus)
- Natural science courses for three years (two or more with a lab component)
- A minimum of two years of study in the same foreign language
GPA stands for Grade Point Average.
Grading Pattern. What grades you received in your most recent classes

Students whose high school does not submit official transcripts for an entrance determination might scan and submit unofficial transcripts. Financial aid will not be issued without official final high school transcripts (federal rules), and/or a spring registration hold will be put on the student's account.

WMU superscores ACT or SAT scores, and the testing information you give in your application will be included in our decision-making process. Western Michigan University announced a test-optional policy for students in 2020, which applies to both admission and scholarship consideration by the Office of Admissions.

"Test optional" means that students can report/submit their ACT or SAT test scores if they want to, but it is not necessary. If a student wants their test score to be used in the admissions process, they can self-report their results on the application. Following that, these kids would adhere to our testing guidelines.
