Language Requirements in English

International applicants whose native language is not English must take the English Placement and Proficiency Exam and submit their results in order to be considered for admission to the University of Nebraska.

The following are the average scores required for university admissions for all programmes except College of Engineering and English Majors in the College of Arts and Sciences:

• TOEFL (internet-based version) 61
• 500 composite TOEFL (Paper-based)
• IELTS composite score of 6.00
• English subscore 18 on the ACT
• Reading subscore 24 on the SAT
• PTE 44

The following are the required exam results for several graduate courses:

• 80 on the TOEFL (internet-based)
• 550 on the TOEFL (Paper-based)
• IELTS composite score of 6.5
