All applicants who speak English as a second language must demonstrate sufficient competency in the language. If you're submitting test scores, keep in mind that they must be official and sent directly from the testing agency to the University of Louisville Admissions Office. Applicants can demonstrate their command of the English language by submitting the following materials:

  • IELTS: 6.5 or higher overall score from the academic module exam
  • Duolingo: 105 or higher
  • SAT: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 490 or higher (SAT taken March 2016 or later)
  • ACT: English sub-score of 18 or higher
  • AP: English Language and Composition score of 4 or higher
  • IB: 5 or higher on the English Language and Literature exam
