There are national eligibility requirements for Rice University. The following qualifications are listed as acceptable for Indian students:
Requirements For Undergraduate Studies
In addition to the midterm results for Grade 12, applicants must also provide authentic transcripts for grades 9 through 11. The application must, by law, be accompanied by the board test results. The university accepts results from the CBSE, CICSE and State boards. Rice looks for students who exhibit intellectual vibrancy through their course choices and academic achievement. Most applicants will push themselves by making use of the challenging coursework offered to them. Students must finish the following requirements at a minimum:
Obtain high SAT or ACT scores
Obtain high school credits: 16 in total
Requirements For Graduates
A minimum 3.0-Grade Point Average is required to graduate from an accredited university to apply for a master's degree. Additionally, some courses could ask applicants to submit their GRE or GMAT results.
PhD Requirements and Research-Based Courses
The following are the primary academic prerequisites for enrollment in a graduate research or PhD programme at Rice University:
Research-focused master's degree; or
A first- or second-class bachelor's degree with honours;
Demonstrated ability to carry out independent PhD-level research.
Additionally, candidates must present a compelling research plan.
