The Computer Science Graduate Program offers numerous options to Masters and PhD graduates. Many PhD students will work as interns in government and commercial research facilities while in school. In addition to working for these companies after graduation, some graduates work for startups, join the business, or work in academia as faculty or research staff. Sixty-six per cent have selected industry occupations during the past five years, 31 per cent have chosen academic positions, and 3 per cent have chosen government professions. 

The Computer Science programme at N.C. State has the good fortune to have its graduates highly sought after nationally and locally (in the Research Triangle). 92% of respondents to our graduate survey who graduated in 2020–2021 reported having a full-time job (n=232). For many significant global corporations, we are a leading source for new hires. Our master's grads reported an average salary of $116K/year for the 2020–21 academic year (without bonuses, options, moving allowances, etc.).
