Admission Requirements

All non-native English speakers must demonstrate their ability to communicate in the English language. Students can demonstrate their understanding by taking the following exams:

• TOEFL (79+) is a test that measures your ability to communicate in English.
• (6.0+) IELTS
• SAT (480+ on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERWS) component)
• TAKE ACTION (Reading and English component scores totaling 34)
• English Test (100+) on Duolingo
• Your official test scores must be sent directly to UMass Boston from the testing agency. When you register for the test, you can request that your results be transmitted to UMass Boston. If you've already taken the test, you can get your official results by contacting the College Board, ACT, TOEFL, IETLS, or Duolingo.
• The SAT/TOEFL and IELTS code for UMass Boston is 3924, and the ACT code is 1925.
