  • University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) is a public university in Boston. The institution was established in 1964. It is the second university in the UMass system and was initially known as Boston State College. In 1982, it was incorporated into UMass Boston by eliminating duplicate programs. UMass Boston offers courses on 207 undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs. The programs are provided through 8 schools and colleges and have more than 50 interdisciplinary research centers. 
  • In 2020, approximately 4000 students graduated from UMass Boston. For fall 2020, the total student enrollment stands at 16,259 and is engaged in academic programs, public service, and research centers. Additionally, UMass Boston offers 30 Ph.D. programs, and it is famous for its expertise in Health, biomedical, and life sciences, sustainability, and inclusion. 
  • The institution is partnered with Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Centre, Sanofi and Genzyme, IBM, Boston Public Schools, and New England Aquarium. The university also has a vibrant international student community, which is represented by students from 136 countries. As per QS World University Rankings 2022, it is currently ranked 651-700, with a research output ‘Very High.’

Apart from this, as per U.S. News and Report’s 2022 Graduate School list, UMass Boston’s courses in education, nursing, clinical psychology, and public affairs is ranked among the top 100 programs. 
  • The Ph.D. program in Gerontology has produced the highest number of gerontology PhDs in the world. The University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) is recognized worldwide, and in 2019, Forbes ranked the university at No.247 as the 300 Best Value Colleges in its 4th annual ranking.
