Internship and Service Learning
Hands-on learning experiences are encouraged and available at Bluffton University. Make the most of your cross-cultural experience by taking advantage of internships and research opportunities, as well as participating in a service-learning project.
Service-learning and cross-cultural options
Service-learning is a method of combining classroom instruction, personal development, and community service. You can participate in service learning at Bluffton through general education or major-specific course. You could also look for service-learning activities that are either short-term or semester-long.
The requirement for graduation is cross-cultural learning which enriches every Bluffton student. During the May term, many students fulfil this requirement by participating in a foreign or domestic adventure. Other students choose a semester-long immersion experience. In a Forum presentation and picture contest, students talk about their cross-cultural experiences.
Student research and internships
Make the most of your education by participating in internships, practicums, and field placements. Many degree programmes mandate an internship, practicum, or field placement, but if yours does not, you should consider doing one on your own. Through Discovery Grants, Pi Delta Research Grants, Professional Enrichment Grants, and/or the Ministry Inquiry Program, we provide financial support for student learning experiences.
