Admission of Queen's University Belfast

What are the requirements for participation?


There are programme, course, and country-specific requirements at the university. For example, Indian applicants must meet the following criteria:

 

Admissions to the undergraduate programme

  • A grade 12 average of 70-85% or better in the best of five academic subjects, as determined by CISCE, CBSE, any state board, or equivalent, is necessary.
  • In addition, a minimum score of 75% in each of the required subjects is required.
  • The results of JEE Mains and JEE Advanced are also taken into account. In such instances, the percentage of students in class must not fall below 60%.
  • Students studying medicine and dentistry must have a minimum of 90 percent overall, with 90 percent in Chemistry and Biology.

Admissions to Postgraduate Programs

Indian PG applicants must have a bachelor's degree with an average of Upper Second Class Honours or Lower Second Class Honours in the United Kingdom.

  • 4.0 on a 6.0 point scale, meaning an A, B, or Good.
  • 7.5/10.0 or 6.5/10 CGPA (good)
  • Percentage A minimum final average of 60% or a second division pass is required.

Requirements for English Language Proficiency

QUB accepts 70% in Core English in Grade 12 from the following boards for most bachelor's programmes, barring Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Medicine.

  • State boards in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat issue the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC).
  • The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations issues the Indian School Certificate (ISC) (CISCE).
  • The Central Board of Secondary Education conducts the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) (CBSE).

International UG and PG students can also submit any of the following exam scores:

TOEFL iBT is a computerised version of the TOEFL exam.

  • Overall score: 80
  • 17th year of writing
  • 20 minutes of speaking
  • 18 minutes of reading
  • 17 minutes of listening
     

IELTS

  • 6.0 out of 10
  • At least 5.5 for each element
