Campus Life

On-Campus Accommodation:

The Spruce and Cedar Residence has furnished units, a laundry room, and a fully equipped communal kitchen. This dwelling option includes a three-bedroom apartment-style living space and an in-suite kitchen, bathroom, and laundry facility.

Every year, 229 students live in Sibley Hall Residence. The Residence was recently refurbished and is now a safe, community-oriented residence with five different room styles to choose from. Each room has a single bed, closet, small refrigerator, and microwave, with some rooms having private en-suite showers. The cost of a room varies depending on the type of room. All students living on campus must purchase a meal plan; this is not an optional purchase.

Note: Residence quickly fills up; students should apply well before arrival to ensure a room. In most cases, the Residence is not available for the January intake. Students must commit to staying for the entire academic year in Residence. Students must vacate their rooms once school is ended or communicate directly with Residence administrators about extending their stay throughout the holiday break.

Off-Campus Accommodation:

Single-family homes, duplexes, and apartments are available for rent off-campus in Thunder Bay. Students who choose to live off-campus must conduct their research and arrive well before the semester start. While the International Education Centre cannot provide off-campus housing for interested students, students can use our Facebook page/group to connect with other international students looking for off-campus lodging.

Students can also consult the following for off-campus housing listings:

  • Rent Panda
  • Home Sweet Home
  • Thunder Bay Kijiji
  • Facebook Marketplace

Note: Utilities, such as heat and water, internet access, and cable television are frequently not included in rental fees. Individual utility providers may require accounts to be set up for these services. Please check with your landlord to see which utilities are included in the rent and which must be scheduled and paid for individually.
