Placements

Several programs call for students to complete an unpaid internship to receive a program certificate or graduate from the College of the North Atlantic. The goal of the work placement is to give students a unique learning opportunity in a natural workplace environment. Students gain technical skills and employability throughout the work experience, which furthers their personal development. It is a chance to get knowledge from a new network of connections and broaden perspectives on potential paths in life and business.

A work placement lasts two weeks for certificate programs and six weeks for diploma programs. Students must work a minimum of 30 hr/per week and a maximum of 40 hr/per week according to the employer's requirements. Commonly, the work placement occurs during intersession, pending the presence of an appropriate employer. The work placement will happen in the semester immediately following the last semester of studies for students who finish their degree outside of the standard order. Only graduates who receive certificates will finish the two-week work internship. Students' work placement will be completed at the end of your second year if you are in your first year of a two-year diploma program.
