Position: Head of School

 

About the Role : 

The Head of the School is a proactive leader who will manage academic programmes and campus administration to ensure the school's overall success. The ideal applicant would be a person with strong leadership and interpersonal abilities who enjoys engaging and mentoring others. They'll be customer-focused, versatile, and love solving challenges and working on various projects.

 

Responsibilities : 

  • Responsible for the school's general academics and extracurricular activities
  • Ensure that all Ministry of Education criteria are met, including curriculum, reports etc. Serve as the school's primary point of contact with the Ministry of Education
  • Oversee Campus Life programmes, ensuring that Bronte College's goal is carried out during the school day and after school for campus life students
  • Lead, supervise, and manage the school's academic team
  • Attend open houses and local and international school fairs to assist with global and regional marketing initiatives
  • Participate in the Academic & Campus Life Staff interview and selection process
  • Assist with policy and procedure development; interpret, execute, and administer departmental policies
  • Conduct timely, fair, and consistent performance reviews for academic staff; lead frequent staff meetings and Department Head meetings
  • Responsible for the Campus Life team reaching the department's objectives, ensuring that student life and safety are taken care of at school
  • Ensure that the evening study session and activities are conducted without a hitch
  • Educate academic staff about various school programmes (such as the International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP), tutoring, and summer camp) so that they can speak about and answer questions about them
  • The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program is under your supervision
  • Should share feedback from parents/students with the appropriate teams
  • They ensure that the school's health and safety rules are followed. This includes regular inspections, employee training on safe working techniques, and a JHSC management member
  • Ensure that students follow the Bronte College Code of Conduct
  • Collaboration with partner schools
  • The Head of School is available and on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergencies
  • To fulfil any other duties as given by the Managing Director

 

 

Working Environment : 

  • Working hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. evening and weekend hours may be necessary for school dances, parent-teacher nights, staff meetings, curriculum nights, open houses, and fairs
  • It is necessary to travel internationally

 

Minimum Prerequisites : 

 

  • Administration experience of five years. 
  • A master's degree or a principal's qualifying programme is required.
  • A university undergraduate degree is required. It is advantageous to have international experience.
  • The Head of School should be certified by the Ontario College of Teachers and in good standing.
  • Extensive knowledge of the English language is required.
  • Computer and software application experience are required.
