  • Previously called the Melbourne University of Divinity when it was established, with amendments in the acts, it eventually became the University of Divinity, Highbury Grove, Australia, constituted in 1910 by an Act of Parliament. It received approval to function as a university in 2012. It is highly dedicated to addressing the issues of the contemporary world through critical engagement with Christian theological traditions. The libraries at the various campuses have student access and borrowing rights to the vast collection of books.
  • The university of divinity offers awards in Theology, Philosophy, Counselling and Ministry. It is the only university in Australia with specialisation listed on the national registrar of higher education providers maintained by TEQSA. The university has a wide area of study programs. It offers a diploma in Theology, three programs for advanced diploma or associate degree, three courses for a bachelor's degree, 19 graduate certificates of graduate diploma, ten programs for master's degree, and three doctoral degree courses. 
  • It also offers courses in religious studies, like Certificate of Divinity; Diploma in Theology; Counselling and Ministry; Certificate in Ageing; Certificate in Children and Family Ministry; Education; Certificate in Leadership; Research Methodology; Spirituality; Certificate in Teaching Meditation; Pastoral Care; Professional Supervision; Philosophy and other combinations of studies. 
  • The approximate undergraduate fee is 9,264 AUD. Students can study full-time, part-time or opt for online courses. In the student experience survey, the university recorded the highest student satisfaction out of every student university. Scholarships are awarded based on the need-based criteria.

English Language Proficiency Requirements 

1 All applicants for admission, both domestic and overseas, must be assessed to ensure their English language proficiency is sufficient for admission to a course of study in accordance with the rules and thresholds set out in Schedule A to this Policy. 

2 The English competency of an applicant may be determined either by an English language test approved by the University or by evidence that the applicant has lived and functioned for a substantial part of his or her life in an English-speaking context.

3 Where an applicant has completed several measures of English proficiency only the most recent measure will be considered.

4 A course advisor may request that an applicant undergo an English test in addition to any requirement of this Policy if such a test is required to determine whether or not to recommend the applicant for admission.

To be eligible for admission to a course of study an applicant must: 

a) meet the minimum academic standards set out in the Regulation and Determinations applicable to that course 

b) satisfy the English language proficiency requirements of this Policy and any further language requirements specific to admission to that course 

c) demonstrate capacity to complete the course successfully 

d) agree to abide by the University of Divinity Code of Conduct e) have attained 18 years of age.
