On-Campus Accommodation


At UA, living on campus is easy, pleasant, and full of facilities. Students here will form memories which will remain for a lifetime. Living in a residence hall on campus is an integral part of many people's college experience. Finding the correct housing match can lead to once-in-a-lifetime connections and activities. Only a tiny percentage of UA's student body resides on campus, offering our resident students a flavour of small-college life. The university wants you to feel at ease in your accommodation. Thus, each one is designed and furnished with that in mind. Co-ed residential halls, double rooms, suites, and high rises are also available. There are even apartments on site. Although they cannot guarantee students their first choice of room location, they will do everything possible to locate the most excellent housing match available.


Life on-campus provides certain facilities for students, which are:

  • Each residence hall is looked after 24*7. To gain access to the building, residents will scan their Zip Card
  • The use of air conditioning (early May through early October)
  • Internet access (both hardwired and wireless)
  • Laundry services are available at no additional cost

Housing halls are located in three quads. They are as follows:


North Quad


  • Bulger Hall


Each floor of this 16-story building includes 21 pupils. The suite-style double rooms share a communal living space and bathrooms. Single rooms are also available.


  • Honors Complex


This six-story structure houses the Honors College offices, classes, and conference rooms. It houses 300 honours students in suite-style accommodations with private and shared bathrooms.


  • Orr Hall


This three-story structure accommodates 120 students in double rooms with shared bathrooms.


  • Ritchie Hall


The Ritchie Emerging Leaders are housed in separate rooms with shared bathrooms. The Residence Life and Housing offices are housed in this three-story structure.


  • Sisler-McFawn Hall


This structure is three stories tall. Single rooms with shared toilets are available for up to 64 Emerging Leaders.


  • Spanton Hall


This 10-story building with 200 residents is next to Rob's Café. Choose from double rooms with shared living space or suite-style double rooms (both with common bathrooms).


South Quad


  • Exchange Street


It's similar to living off-campus, but with all of the advantages. Participation in the meal plan is only available in the apartments. Shared single rooms and four-person apartment units are available to up to 475 students. Summer lodging is also available in this hall.


  • South Hall


The 530 members of this community share single and double-occupancy suite-style bedrooms. This six-story structure houses several speciality housing groups.


East Quad


  • Spicer Hall


More than 450 students are housed in shared single and double occupancy suite-style bedrooms in this five-story facility. This structure houses several specialist housing communities.


Summer Housing


Summer lodging in the Exchange Street Residence Hall will be charged a fee. Students will have their apartments.

When working on a cooperative education/internship field assignment that has been approved and following the rules and regulations of the cooperative education programmes, participating students are considered full-time students at The University of Akron.


Internships are usually one-time only tasks for which an academic department awards academic credit, and they are sometimes unpaid. Students can develop these experiences in consultation with the Center for Career Management and the internship coordinators in their particular departments.
