BA in Sociology, Hartwick College

Hartwick’s Sociology program offers an in-depth exploration of social structures, including class, ethnicity, race, age, and gender. It provides students with opportunities to understand society and culture both within the United States and internationally, through J Term experiences abroad. The program emphasizes developing data collection and analysis skills by engaging students in faculty research projects, which they can apply to their own work. Students will gain a broad foundation of knowledge with courses covering social psychology, family, religion, and socio-political movements, among others. The curriculum encourages real-world application through internships and research opportunities, culminating in a thesis presentation or scholarly publication, preparing students for diverse career paths or graduate studies.
