BSE in Physical Education, Arkansas State University

Arkansas State’s PETE program, offered through the Department of Health, Physical Education and Sport Sciences, is a nationally recognized program designed to prepare future educators. The program combines current educational theories and research with practical teaching applications in K-12 schools. Students engage in coursework covering teaching strategies, motor skill development, curricular methods for elementary and secondary education, evaluation techniques in physical education, and adapted physical education. Additionally, there are classes focused on wellness and leisure pedagogy. Throughout the program, students develop teaching strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners across psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains. The curriculum integrates early field experiences to provide real-world exposure, culminating in a comprehensive student teaching internship. This well-rounded approach ensures candidates are equipped to handle varied classroom situations and promote inclusive, effective physical education.
