Applicants should have A Levels with a minimum of AAB and a fourth Level 3 qualification, or equivalent qualifications such as the IB with a score of 34. Specific subject requirements include evidence of interest in language and linguistics, demonstrated through the personal statement. For mature students, relevant experience and previous study are considered. English language proficiency must be demonstrated through qualifications such as GCSE English Language at grade 4/C or IELTS with a score of 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in each component. Alternative accepted English language qualifications are also considered.
