Entry requirements include a Leaving Certificate with at least five subjects at grade 06, including Mathematics and a language (English or Irish). FETAC students with QQI Level 5 qualifications in specific areas related to early childhood education are also eligible. Mature applicants are not required to meet minimum academic requirements but may need to participate in an interview. International applicants should apply through the International Office and allow sufficient time for visa processing.

English language test
Graduates can work as Early Years’ Educators in various settings such as crèches, Naíonraí, afterschool clubs, and parent groups. They may take roles as assistants, room leaders, or managers, developing and evaluating programmes to support children’s growth. The qualification also provides a pathway to further study, including a Level 8 BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education and Care, and careers in areas like early years’ inspection and mentoring.
