A community college in Mattoon, Illinois, Lake Land College established in 1966 and has a student enrollment of over 4,000. It offers various employment-ready and pathway programs (150+ academic majors) in ten areas of study like Health and Public Services, Business, Information Technology and Agriculture. Some workforce and transfer ready programs are Cosmetology, Entrepreneurship, Management, Psychology and Elementary Education. The main Lake Land College campus is located in Mattoon, and it also has four centres; Workforce Development Center, Eastern Region Center, Western Region Center and Kluthe Center for Higher Education and Technology. 

The Lake Land College Library houses numerous articles, journals, books and e-resources. The collegeäó»s Adult Education program comprises High School Equivalency (GED Programming), Vocational Programming and English Language Acquisition classes. The Dual Credit program, which has an annual student enrollment of 1,500, allows high school students to earn college credit before graduating. Several High Demand Programs boost employment opportunities in areas like Automotive Technology, Criminal Justice, Paramedical Services, and Court Reporting. 

Other programs offered by the college include the Traffic Safety Program, IDOT Quality Management Training Program and Truck Driver Training Program. Lake Land College also offers online classes; there are 12 certificates, four associate degree and 13 online-flex degree programs available in this format. The estimated tuition fee is USD 4,260, USD 8,083 and USD 13,885 for in-district, out-of-district and out-of-state/international students respectively. 

Financial aids include scholarships, loans, grants and student employment like the Federal Pell Grant, Illinois MIA/POW Scholarship, Direct Loan Program, Federal Work-Study and Military Tuition Assistance. There are no housing facilities on campus, but student accommodation is available close by in apartments. Lake Land College has over 30 student clubs like Active Mind, Common Corners and Pride and five sports teams (baseball, basketball, softball etc.). Over 80% of Lake Land College graduates find employment within six months of graduating.

  • TOEFL 
    The TOEFL test is taken online. It assesses your ability to communicate effectively in English at a university level.

            A minimum score of 78 on the internet-based test (iBT) and a minimum score of 19 in each of the four areas evaluated is             required.

Each year, more than 50 tests are offered at certified test centres all around the world.

  • Duolingo
    Duolingo offers online English language competence assessment. The tests are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In under an hour, you can complete the test from your computer and send the results to our admissions team for consideration.

Our average acceptance score is 100, with no sub-score lower than 95.

How To Apply

Step 1: Select a programme.
You must select a programme that is appropriate for your objectives. International students are not eligible for all programmes. Some programmes fill up rapidly, and you may not be able to enroll.

Make a list of your programme alternatives and do some research on them.


Step 2: Examine the prices.

Once you've chosen a programme, find out how much it will cost you to come to Canada and attend school.

Step 3: Apply Online

You apply through the post-secondary application procedure in the University's province. Apply Alberta is the name of the programme.

To pay the $90 application cost, you'll need a credit card.

Step 4: Transcripts and other documents can be emailed

Your transcript is required by the admissions committee. It's part of the process of determining whether you have the necessary academic credentials for the programme.
