Before beginning field placement/clinical practice/practicum, international students must get a co-op work permit. A co-op work permit is distinct from your study permit; it is a separate permission that allows overseas students to engage in work that is directly related to their course of study. Because you will be working with vulnerable individuals in the health, community, or medical fields, you must have a current medical assessment by an IRCC approved panel physician before applying for a co-op work permit.

Inquire with MacEwan International about the required paperwork. Because current IRCC processing periods are considerable, you should apply for a co-op work visa 4-6 months before the start of your field placement/clinical practice/practicum.
