class="ez-toc-section-end">

Accountant salary in UAE figures disagree by more than five times, and the reason is not bad data. The job title covers two separate labour markets.

Job boards capture the huge volume of bookkeeping, accounts payable and general ledger roles at UAE small businesses and trading firms, filled largely by unqualified commerce graduates. Recruitment salary guides capture the roles those firms pay a recruiter to fill: qualified accountants at multinationals, banks and larger groups. Neither number is the average. Which one applies to you depends almost entirely on whether you hold a professional qualification.

Source

Reported figure

Monthly in INR

Which market it describes

Indeed UAE, live listings

AED 2,500 to 3,500

Rs.64,750 to Rs.90,650

SME and retail bookkeeping, open to freshers

Indeed UAE, reported median

AED 3,568

Rs.92,411

Self-reported, all emirates, mostly unqualified

GulfTalent

AED 4,000

Rs.1,03,600

1,532 registered users, mixed

Glassdoor Dubai

AED 5,000

Rs.1,29,500

1,658 submissions, larger employers

ERI

AED 20,286

Rs.5,25,407

Employer survey, qualified professionals

Michael Page 2026, junior

AED 10,000 to 15,000

Rs.2,59,000 to Rs.3,88,500

Recruited roles, qualification expected

Michael Page 2026, qualified

AED 20,000 to 27,000

Rs.5,18,000 to Rs.6,99,300

Banking and financial services, qualified only

Two caveats on that last source. The Michael Page bands come from industry press reporting of its guide rather than the guide itself, and a recruiter’s document describes the segment recruiters are paid to fill. Read it as the ceiling of the qualified market, not the average of all accountants.

For where accounting sits against other UAE roles, see our breakdown of the average salary in UAE across roles.

Counselor insight: Before trusting any figure, ask which market produced it. A job board number describes the job you can get without a qualification. A recruitment guide number describes the job you can get with one. Students who budget on the second and apply for the first are the ones who arrive in Dubai and cannot make rent.

Accountant Salary in UAE by Job Title and Qualification

Experience alone moves your accountant salary in UAE slowly. The qualification moves you between bands.

Indeed’s own sub-title data, all collected the same way, shows the unqualified ladder clearly: accounting intern at AED 2,522 (Rs.65,320), assistant accountant at AED 2,672 (Rs.69,205), junior accountant at AED 2,825 (Rs.73,168), accountant at AED 3,568 (Rs.92,411) and senior accountant at AED 5,197 (Rs.1,34,602). GulfTalent’s figures follow the same shape, with an accountant median of AED 4,000 rising to AED 7,500 (Rs.1,94,250) for a senior accountant. Roughly six years of experience buys you about AED 2,600 a month on that track.

Now the qualified ladder from the Michael Page 2026 guide, in monthly AED:

Role

SME

MNC

MNC in INR

Junior accountant

10,000 to 15,000

14,000 to 18,000

Rs.3,62,600 to Rs.4,66,200

AR/AP accountant

12,000 to 16,000

14,000 to 18,000

Rs.3,62,600 to Rs.4,66,200

General ledger accountant

13,000 to 18,000

15,000 to 20,000

Rs.3,88,500 to Rs.5,18,000

Financial controller

35,000 to 45,000

45,000 to 55,000

Rs.11,65,500 to Rs.14,24,500

A junior accountant on the recruited track starts near where a senior accountant on the unqualified track finishes after six years. That is the whole argument for finishing your qualification.

Counselor insight: If you are a B.Com graduate with no professional qualification, do not move to the UAE first and plan to study there. Working a 48-hour week on AED 3,000 while clearing CA or ACCA papers defeats almost everyone who tries it. Clear the qualification in India, where your cost of living is a fraction of Dubai’s, then move into the recruited market.

Why 2027-28 Is an Unusually Good Year for an Accountant Salary in UAE

Demand for UAE accountants is rising for a specific, dated reason that no salary article mentions.

The UAE introduced VAT in 2018 and corporate tax under Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022, currently 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% above it. Federal Decree-Law No. 17 of 2025 rewrote the Tax Procedures Law and Federal Decree-Law No. 16 of 2025 amended the VAT Law, both effective 1 January 2026, giving the Federal Tax Authority tighter deadlines and broader audit powers.

Then comes e-invoicing, and the dates land squarely inside our year frame. Under Ministerial Decisions 243 and 244 of 2025, the UAE is phasing in mandatory structured electronic invoicing on the Peppol network, with every in-scope business required to appoint an Accredited Service Provider:

1 January 2027: mandatory for businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more

1 July 2027: mandatory for businesses below AED 50 million

1 October 2027: mandatory for government entities

The Phase 1 deadline to appoint a provider was extended to 30 October 2026, but the January 2027 go-live did not move. Cabinet Decision No. 106 of 2025 attaches penalties for non-compliance.

Counselor insight: Learn UAE corporate tax and e-invoicing specifically, not accounting generally. A candidate who can speak credibly about Federal Tax Authority filing obligations and Peppol-based invoicing in a 2027 interview is scarce, and scarcity is the only thing that reliably moves an offer. This is the clearest route from a bookkeeping title into a finance manager band.

Why Your Accountant Salary in UAE Offer Is Not Your Take-Home

There is no personal income tax in the UAE, so your gross is close to your cash in hand. What matters more is how the package is split.

A common AED 12,000 offer might read: basic AED 5,000, housing AED 4,500, transport AED 1,500, other AED 1,000. Each dirham spends the same monthly. But under Article 51 of the UAE Labour Law, end-of-service gratuity is calculated on last basic salary only, and the UAE Government portal states that it excludes housing, conveyance, utilities and furniture allowances. It accrues at 21 days of basic salary per year for the first five years and 30 days per year after that, with one completed year needed to qualify at all.

In rupees, on three years of service:

Basic AED 5,000: gratuity of AED 10,500, or Rs.2,71,950

Basic AED 10,000: gratuity of AED 21,000, or Rs.5,43,900

Exchange rate used: Rs.25.90 per AED. Verify the current rate before finalising your budget.

There is also a milestone worth knowing about early. The skilled professional Golden Visa, a ten-year renewable residence permit, requires a minimum monthly salary of AED 30,000 (Rs.7,77,000), a role classified at MOHRE Level 1 or 2, a bachelor’s degree or higher attested through the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and six months of bank statements evidencing the salary, per Abu Dhabi’s government portals. On the qualified finance ladder that is roughly a finance manager or financial controller level. On the unqualified ladder it is unreachable.

Counselor insight: Ask HR for one line in writing before you sign: the basic salary component in dirhams. Recruiters will quote the gross all day and go quiet on this question. The same headline package can differ by Rs.2.7 lakh in gratuity over three years, and the basic is also the figure most Golden Visa assessments look at later.

Documents Required for Accountant Salary in UAE

Document

India-specific detail

Degree certificate

Full attestation chain: home country authority, UAE Embassy in India, then UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Arabic translation

Certified translation is commonly required for work permit processing; confirm with your employer

Transcripts and mark sheets

Often requested alongside the degree, particularly for senior roles

Professional qualification certificate

ICAI, ACCA, CPA or CMA membership certificate, with membership current

Experience letters

Dated, with role and duties, matching your CV exactly

Passport

Name must match your degree, qualification certificate and experience letters

Attestation is the step that runs on other people’s timelines. Do not accept out of sunk-cost pressure over attestation fees you have already paid.

Attestation is rejected or delayed. Usually a name mismatch or an unresponsive university. Get an affidavit for the name and contact your registrar directly rather than waiting on an agent.

Your visa is tied to an employer you want to leave. UAE labour rules have loosened considerably, but check your contract’s notice period and any non-compete clause before you resign, not after.

The written basic is lower than the verbal promise. The contract governs. Renegotiate before signing, because after signing your gratuity is reduced for the entire tenure.

Gratuity is not paid on exit. It is a statutory entitlement after one completed year. Keep your contract, payslips and final settlement in writing.

A recruitment agent asks for a large fee. Legitimate UAE recruiters are paid by the employer. Verify any Indian agent’s registration before paying anything.

You are hired into a title that caps your ceiling. An “accounts assistant” title can be hard to shed internally. Three things to act on:

Establish which ladder you are on before you budget anything. Unqualified roles start near AED 2,500 and unqualified seniors top out around AED 5,200. Recruited roles for qualified accountants start near AED 10,000. Six years of experience will not carry you from one to the other, but a qualification will.

If you are unqualified, finish CA or ACCA in India first. Your cost of living while studying is a fraction of Dubai’s, and the qualification is what unlocks the band you are actually planning your finances around.

If you are already qualified, move during the compliance window and specialise. Corporate tax and e-invoicing capability is scarce through 2027, and negotiating on basic salary rather than gross protects both your gratuity and your later Golden Visa case.

Verified by: LeapScholar’s UAE counseling team, with hands-on experience guiding Indian commerce graduates through qualification planning, degree attestation and Gulf job applications.

Have questions about accountant salary in UAE? Book a free session with a LeapScholar counselor.

Frequently Asked Questions About Accountant Salary in UAE

How much is an accountant salary in UAE per month in Indian rupees?

It depends on your qualification, not your years.
