I’m a working software developer, and I didn’t have the luxury of spending months agonizing over university applications. Here’s my Leap Scholar review, in my own words, on how I went from twenty shortlisted universities down to one confirmed offer at the University of East Anglia, without ever having to leave my job to get there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q1. Tell me about yourself and where you’re headed.<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) Hi, I’m Anitta Mathew, and I’m from Kerala. I’ve applied to a university in Norwich called the University of East Anglia, and I’m going there to do my masters in artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q2. When did you first start thinking about studying abroad?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) Honestly, I’d been planning this trip since my bachelor’s degree, so that’s about four years now. I have two elder sisters, and both of them did their masters abroad, both are software developers too, so they inspired me a lot for this whole step. I was seriously, actively planning it for about a year before I finally kicked off the process this March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q3. What was happening in your life when the plan finally became real?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) I was already working as a software developer, and I’d formerly worked with a US client at my company. That experience is what really showed me the value of getting exposure to how people work in the US or UK. I was also working on some AI-related projects at the time, and that made me want to upskill myself specifically in that space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q4. Was going abroad always part of the plan, or did it develop over time?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) I always had this plan of doing my masters, even back in my bachelor’s days. I knew I wanted to go; I just wasn’t sure which country or which exact course to commit to. That’s honestly where Leap Scholar helped me the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q5. How did you first hear about Leap Scholar?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) I was randomly checking university fees online, and I came across Leap Scholar during that search. I signed up, and shortly after, I got a call from them, and that’s how it all started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q7. How did you decide between the UK and other countries?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) I had two countries in mind, the UK and Germany, both strong IT hubs, and my sisters are actually in that part of the world too. I chose the UK mainly because there’s no language barrier, and there’s a lot of international exposure there, with students from all over the world. Honestly, the weather being decent was a small factor too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q8. How did you land on artificial intelligence as your course?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) There were so many options: cybersecurity, cloud computing, AI, machine learning, and data science, and I was genuinely confused at first. I ended up applying to two tracks, computing science and artificial intelligence, and got offers for both. In the end I chose AI because I felt it would open up more career opportunities, and I already had some relevant work experience in that space, which made the decision easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q9. How did your parents react when you told them?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) They weren’t shocked at all, honestly; since my sisters had already gone abroad, they kind of expected this was coming for me too. There was a bit of stress around the finances at first, but once I walked them through the whole process, they were completely on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q10. Walk me through your university shortlisting process.<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) I started with a list of about twenty universities and narrowed it down to seven based on my course preferences. I applied to all seven and got offers from five of them. The tough part after that was actually picking one. Finance was one big factor; fees and ranking both mattered since a cheaper university with a weaker ranking just isn’t worth it long term. I also used an AI tool that helped shortlist options once I gave it my details, which made comparing everything much easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q11. How did you narrow it down from five offers to one final choice?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) Most of the five were located right in the middle of a city, but I really wanted a proper campus life, somewhere that felt like a big university experience. That narrowed it to two: City St George’s, University of London, and University of East Anglia. Both were similarly ranked, and the fees were close too. What tipped it toward UEA was the campus itself; it’s much bigger and sits just outside London, and a friend of mine who studied there gave me really positive feedback about her time there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q12. Did you get a scholarship?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) Yes, and it turns out the process varies a lot from university to university. For some schools, you’d need to apply separately for a scholarship, but for the one I chose, the scholarship came automatically with my offer letter, based on merit and my bachelor’s marks. There weren’t any extra perks beyond the tuition waiver itself, no transport passes or anything like that in my case, but the tuition support alone made a real difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q13. What exactly did Leap Scholar handle for you?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) Once I was assigned an agent, they understood my course, university, and location preferences and built out a shortlist inside the app itself, with rankings, fees in both rupees and pounds, and comparisons across universities. I could favorite the ones I liked and move forward with applications from there. Beyond that, they handled my SOP and my entire visa application. As a working professional with very little spare time, that support mattered enormously; I genuinely didn’t have to stress over any of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q14. What was the toughest part of the whole process for you?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) Choosing the right university, without question. I was completely clear on the course I wanted, but picking between universities was genuinely challenging My Leap Scholar agent walked me through different UK cities, regions, and even success rates for each option, which made that decision much easier than doing it alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q15. How much did you have to do yourself for the SOP and visa?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) For the SOP, I only had to answer a handful of questions specific to my course and my work background; everything else was handled by the team. For the visa, my only job was to go back and verify the details already filled into the visa application; the rest was completed entirely by Leap Scholar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q16. How fast did everything move once you got serious in March?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) Genuinely fast. I started the whole process seriously in March 2026. By mid-March we’d kicked off applications, and within about two weeks, by the end of March, I already had offers in hand. I waited two more weeks for scholarship details from one of the universities, then moved into the loan and finance process. Once my university and course were finalized, I got my loan sanctioned, paid my deposit, and within two to three working days had my visa documentation ready. I applied for the visa and got it back within another two to three working days. I’d already booked my flight early too, mostly to lock in better fares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q17. What’s the emotional side of this been like?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) Honestly, harder than the logistics. I’m very much a family person, and deciding to suddenly move to a country that’s completely unfamiliar to me has been a very emotional experience. Packing my whole life into two suitcases is something I’m still working through as I prepare to be ready to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q18. When do you leave, and what did Leap Scholar ultimately help you with?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A) I’m flying out to the UK on September 11, 2026. Leap Scholar helped me primarily with two things: the entire college application process and the visa support service. Between the two, that covered everything I genuinely didn’t have the bandwidth to manage on my own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
