Funding dates are fixed at 1 November 2026 to 31 July 2027 and cannot be deferred. MAECI health insurance is included, excluding pre-existing conditions and dental care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Counselor insight:<\/em><\/strong><em> Research projects are the only track with no renewal, but they carry the highest age ceiling at 40 against 28 for master&#8217;s. Working professionals who assume master&#8217;s is their only option often qualify more easily under research, where the bottleneck is the supervisor invitation letter, not age.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Italy_Government_Scholarship_Amount\"><\/span><strong>Italy Government Scholarship Amount<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most published information on this is wrong. It is not a \u20ac900 monthly stipend. Arrive on or after 16 November and the grant is cut proportionally from your arrival date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The absence rule.<\/strong> Leaving Italy for over 15 consecutive days requires notifying MAECI with documented reasons, and you may request that evaluation only once. Christmas breaks are exempt within five days either side.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What the Italy Government Scholarship Does Not Cover<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuition exemption is not guaranteed. Universities may exempt recipients under Italian legislative decree 68\/2012, but that is institutional discretion and MAECI does not reimburse tuition. Regional fees are always yours to pay, and language course recipients always pay tuition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plan the shortfall using the<a href=\"https:\/\/leapscholar.com\/italy\/cost-of-studying-in-italy\"> cost of studying in Italy<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/leapscholar.com\/blog\/public-universities-in-italy-for-internatioanal-students\/\"> tuition bands at Italian public universities<\/a>, where income-linked fees can fall to roughly Rs.17,187 (\u20ac156) a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On earnings, the<a href=\"https:\/\/en.ilsole24ore.com\/art\/jobs-on-the-rise-but-salaries-falling-for-italian-graduates-AIi4NhbD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 28th AlmaLaurea Report, June 2026<\/a> puts the average net monthly salary for Italian master&#8217;s graduates at Rs.1,64,704 (\u20ac1,495) one year after graduation and Rs.2,09,654 (\u20ac1,903) at five years, with employment at 80.8% and 94.4% respectively. Real wages fell 0.9% year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Exchange rate used: <\/em><\/strong><em>Rs.110.17 per euro. Verify the current rate before finalising your budget.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Counselor insight:<\/em><\/strong><em> The third instalment is Rs.3,30,510, 28% of the total, gated on 27 CFU. A standard Italian master&#8217;s year is 60 CFU, so that is 45% of a full year&#8217;s load. Students who arrive in November and clear two or three exams by June do not receive it. Budget on Rs.8,59,326 and treat the rest as conditional.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Italy_Government_Scholarship_Eligibility_for_Indian_Applicants\"><\/span><strong>Italy Government Scholarship Eligibility for Indian Applicants<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>India appears on the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Elenco-dei-paesi-ammissibili-List-of-eligible-countries.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> official list of eligible countries<\/a>. An entirely English-taught bachelor&#8217;s can be evidenced with a university document instead of a test score. PhD and research applicants submit no language proof to MAECI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Five conditions you must satisfy at once.<\/strong> Failing any one invalidates the Italy government scholarship application:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>No secondary school diploma obtained in, or currently studied in, Italy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No degree obtained from, or currently studied at, an Italian higher education institution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No degree obtained from a foreign institution located in Italy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No MAECI research scholarship held in the last five academic years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enrolling in the <strong>first year<\/strong> of your program, not any later year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Not funded:<\/strong> standalone bachelor&#8217;s degrees outside AFAM, single-cycle degrees including medicine, &#8220;Master Universitari&#8221; at both levels, specialisation courses, one-year courses and single courses. Part-time students and those beyond their program&#8217;s legal duration, <em>fuori corso<\/em>, are excluded, as are Italian public administration employees and their first-degree descendants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If medicine is the goal, read<a href=\"https:\/\/leapscholar.com\/blog\/mbbs-in-italy-fees-and-colleges\/\"> MBBS in Italy<\/a> instead. For eligible programs, shortlist via<a href=\"https:\/\/leapscholar.com\/blog\/ms-in-italy-universities-cost-courses-and-requirements\/\"> master&#8217;s programmes in Italy<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/leapscholar.com\/blog\/top-universities-in-italy\/\"> top universities in Italy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Counselor insight:<\/em><\/strong><em> Condition 5 disqualifies more Indian applicants than any other, and almost nobody warns them. Deferring a 2026 admission to 2027, or entering year two of a Laurea Magistrale, makes you ineligible with an otherwise perfect profile. Check the entry year on your admission letter first.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Documents_Required_for_the_Italy_Government_Scholarship_from_India\"><\/span><strong>Documents Required for the Italy Government Scholarship from India<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything goes through the<a href=\"https:\/\/studyinitaly.esteri.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Study in Italy portal<\/a>. That function opens only for applicants who flagged the need at application time and who appear in the merit ranking. For 2026-27 it closed at 14:00 Italian time on 1 July 2026. Research, language and renewal tracks cannot supplement at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Counselor insight:<\/em><\/strong><em> The 2026-27 India ranking flagged only four of 42 ranked candidates as still owing a document, under 10%. That shows how narrow the window is. If your final marksheet will not exist by late March, tick the supplementary declaration when you apply.
