Arrow

Do you know?

The average cost to submit a US application is approximately $44 along with other charges. If a student wants to apply for 10 colleges, the cost goes up to hundreds of dollars. Here are some tips with which you can reduce the cost  of application fees!

1

Apply for a fee waiver

About  900 colleges accept application waivers through the Common App. In the fee waiver section you can ask for a reduction of cost.  You need to check if you have that choice because all colleges have different policies.

2

Contact the institution

You can send an email to the admissions department by  requesting a waiver. They will provide a form to complete with instructions .

3

Apply for the general  test fees waiver

You can also apply for a test fee waiver if the school you would be applying to demands it. Further details on how to apply for test fee waivers  and other details can be found on the SAT and ACT website

4

Be very  critical of the  potential college

If you are struggling  with the costs of submitting  and not eligible for an application fee waiver, you should critically think about reducing the number of applications you submit. You should only apply to those that you are confident in.

5

Apply to a community college

Most of the community colleges have less admission fees, and you can also apply for waivers. Community colleges are the best place to start and can help you reduce the overall cost of the degree too.

6

Attend University webinars and info session

You can also be eligible for a fees waiver if you attend the university open day or info session. Many  universities do give free codes to a selected number of students attending such info sessions.
