5 things you should never do in your application!
In the first three months of 2022, 1.3L students chose to study abroad. But is it that simple to get accepted by universities?
2021 saw a 41% increase in Indian students flying abroad to study.
Understanding what universities look for in an application might help aspirants enhance their chances of being accepted.
1. Failure to Meet Standard Test Score
Although course grades are essential, admission test scores like the ACT & SAT are also prioritised. Students with high grades but low test scores tend to get rejected.
2. Insufficient Academic Rigour
Colleges want applicants who push themselves academically. Schools will consider your GPA, but they will also review your transcript. It’s always best to have a good mix of AP (Advanced Placement) and honours classes.
3. Application Essay Error
Students mostly make errors on application materials, especially essays. They either hurry through it or neglect to proofread, which leads to numerous spelling mistakes, unintended auto-corrections, etc. This can be mistaken for carelessness.
4. Academic Integrity Concern
The admissions team wants to ensure that the transcript accurately reflects the capabilities of the student who submits it. Any record of cheating or plagiarism can lead to instant rejection.
5. Poor Fit
Colleges look for students who share their interests, just as students look for institutions that share theirs. E.g. For private universities, the mission and value statements should coincide with the candidate's profile.
